Infrastructure designations

GPC has extensive experience with clients, often education establishments, in obtaining an infrastructure designation (formerly known as a community infrastructure designation) under the Planning Act 2016

An infrastructure designation establishes a streamlined approval process for essential and supporting community infrastructure, and can deliver substantial cost savings.

GPC have a proven track record and skills in managing the application process and associated public consultation process to deliver the infrastructure designation that will support the implementation of master plans and capital infrastructure investments.

Villanova College

Project
GPC obtained a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) for Villanova College at Coorparoo. The MID provided the College with planning approval to construct a four-storey building within the western portion of the main campus. The building was designed to assist the College with the progression of moving teaching and learning spaces towards a student-centred model. Twenty first century learning is underpinned by teaching methods and spaces that are engaging and motivational. The building has recently been completed and the College’s original objective has been accomplished by provided flexible learning spaces that complement current and evolving education methods and provide creative and energised learners and teachers. GPC managed this MID through the streamlined process and obtained the decision from the Minister within an efficient timeframe.

Brigidine College

Project
Brigidine College’s campus in Indooroopilly was designated in November 2018. GPC managed this process, working collaboratively with the College, the State Government and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the designation was delivered in a timely manner. GPC assisted Brigidine College as one of the first designations under the Planning Act 2016. The designation facilitates the construction of two new buildings (technology centre and administration building), demolition of existing buildings and future works consistent with the designation.

St Joseph’s Nudgee College

Project
GPC obtained a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) for St Joseph’s Nudgee College at Boondall. The MID provides the College with planning approval for a number of separate projects across the campus, scheduled to be completed by the start of the 2021 school year and beyond. The designation allows the College to continue using the facilities on this land to educate and provide accommodation for students, whilst also providing for an early learning centre. The premises was designated to facilitate the demolition, extension and refurbishment of existing school buildings, conversion of an existing building to an early learning centre, extension and redevelopment of sports fields, development of new buildings, formalisation of car parking areas and driveways, new and expanded irrigation dams, and other works.
