Industry

GPC has a number of different industry clients who require development approval for new or expanded industrial uses. Industry approvals often involve consideration of Environmentally Relevant Activities (ERAs) and accordingly, require a strong understanding of the Environmental Protection Act 1994, and interrelationship with the Planning Act 2016 and Planning Regulation 2017.

GPC has extensive experience with managing the related technical disciplines that are often required to support applications for industrial uses. These include air quality, noise, traffic, stormwater management and related building requirements. GPC consistently provides expert planning advice regarding the approval process and strategies needed to obtain successful approval outcomes for their clients.

Out of 50 million tyres in Australia only 2.55 million are recycled. The tyre recycling process recovers resources from the recycling tyre process including oils, steel and char/ carbon (for use in the cement industry). The process involves a thermal desorption technology developed in Perth. This technology has strong interest domestically and internationally.

GPC obtained planning and ERA approvals for Pearl Global’s site on the Gold Coast, addressing issues such as traffic, bushfire, air and noise pollution, and fire engineering. The proposed development included obtaining approvals for a High and Medium impact industry and associated ERAs.
